I need to take ownership of a folder on my PC. I have all
the necessary instructions but I don't know how to start
XP in safe mode. Windows help says to press F8 when I get

I need to enable XP Pro's built-in firewalling on a fileserver but in doing so the shared folders can no longer be accessed. Which service or setting do I need to add/enable to be able to still access shared folders?

I received two of the same e-mail from Microsoft
yesterday, Jan. 26, that said to download a "patch" and
that my system was at risk.  It said 500,000 had already
been hit.  Did anyone else receive this and is it for

I got a popup warning from microsoft, saying they had
detected a tracking program on my machine.  Asked me
toclick on a link for a free scanner to download, to
remove spyware.  Was this legitimate?  I did not click.

I had to do a parallel install of windows so that I could

I have noticed that "Power Users" are not able to get
automatic updates of windows software.  I had them set to

We are deploying laptops with WinXP that will not have a
connection to our network or to the internet.  Each laptop
will have Norton AntiVirus installed.  We plan on updating
virus definitions via CD-ROM.  Updating the virus
