When I attempt to activate the firewall within XP Home
Edition I get the following error message:
"the dependency service or group failed to start"

I have downloaded Q832894 to deal with the current advice
but am told it is only relevant to OE 6 and it won't
install. My OE help tells me I have OE 6 so why won't it

I know that I can setup user security for services through the MMC but how
do I do that via command line.  You have cacls for the file system, regini
for the registry but what is used for the services?  I want to add the Users
group permission to run the telephony service.

I've installed a copy of windows XP over itself (in order
to repair it), but I've left the Documents and Settings
folder intact. All of the settings and files of user
accounts from my previous install are still in there.

With new updates coming out daily, we are trying to setup
the SUS to help us maintain updates.  I have the server
configured and it is syncronizing and all that good
stuff.  The problem i am running into is the client
