I recently reformatted my computer because it would not

As a Unix sysadmin I am used to look the log of users who have logged
in during a certain time period (the 'last' command).
How do you do this kind of thing for a  Windows XP system?

Our computer got loaded with spy programs. We want to
dowload a spyware sweeper to clean it up, but our content
advisor does not allow it. We do not remember our

When I start my laptop it wants a password, I don't
remember the password.
I tried the F8 safe mode and clicked Administrator then
enter but step 6 does'nt ask if I running in safe mode.

Norton Antivirus told me this file was infected with a
download trojan. I followed their instructions on how to
remove it from my system, and all is well so far. But, is
