Something happened to the C drive on my old computer
where it would not boot.  I took it out of the machine
and put it into my newer machine to save the data on it.  
Everything seems to be accessable on it with the

Computer had a corrupted Registry and would not boot.  So
I reinstalled windows xp home over the existing
installation.  However the user profile under documents
and setttings had the private folder protection enabled.

I have several users on my puter, but the other users rarely log on, how can I make XP log onto my account automatically without removing the other users and in a reversible way should another user come along.

I upgraded to XP and now my Norton's won't work. I'm sure
there is an easy fix but can't get anyone at Norton!!!

For some time I've been questioning the use of AV software. I work in IT
support and I really couldn't count the number of perfectly good Windows
installations I've seen borked by Norton AV or any of the other bloated
virus suites. The performance hit from installing these things ...

is set to automatic, but the service will not start.  
When I try to start the service, I receive the
