My Win XP Sp1 computer crashed as windows update was
installing the latest update software for the site.
Now when i go to Windows Update it says i need the latest
version.  The button says "UPdate Now".  I click and

Like John, we are having the same problems with these
critical updtes not running reliably on all PCs - even
among the exact same setup. We are not sure what to try
next, frankly.

Is there any way to export group policies from one XP
system to another ? I know that I can create a reg file of
HKLM\software\policies and HKCU\software\policies, but the
HKCU would have to be applied to each user on a system and

this is the problem!
i went into control panel then to user accounts, and then added new account and made it "adminator user".. then i made the one i was on "limited"..which was a stupid thing to do cause i can't get into the other user account!
i loged in and out and nothing ...

I do have admin rights on my computer, so I go to Admin Tools -> Local
Security Policy -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment -> Restore Files
and Directories, but then all the selections are grayed ...

I don't know why this is happening but whenever i logon to Windows XP with networking Available i get a popup box on the Welcome screen. Here are the details:
-There is no title.
-The close (X) button is greyed out

The path HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\services\
has ONLY one key TermService other than the default. It is REG_DWORD

It seems (maybe it's supposed to be this way) that all
folders are read only.  How can I change this?  I've
