     I regularly activate my XP firewall.  However, I frequently find the firewall option (control panel > network connections > properties > advanced) is unchecked.  I'd like to keep it checked.  Any ideas on how I can correct this?

I have somehow acquired these sounds, only in Internet
Explorer, that I just can't get rid of.  They sound like a
gunshot and they fire whenever I change websites or even
