i have a friend who turned on his computer one day to
find he has a new user account he did not create. He
looged into the account and its is as if he has a new
computer. His my documents folder is empty, so is my

Alright, this really sucks.  I have a machine w/ XP Pro
(SP1) that is full of encrypted files using EFS.  The guy
using the computer doesn't work here anymore and failed to
give the password.  I went into the Admin account and

I am searching for some help... please!  I use the Windows
XP operating system.  I downloaded the new service pack
and could not access the internet after the install.  I
finally uninstalled the service pack, had to uninstall my

I installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 on my two PC's last
week.  It works fine on my HP Pavilion.  However, I have
not been able to run Norton LiveUpdate on my Dell
Dimension 4500 since installing the Service Pack 2. The

Is there a way to set a power-on password on a Windows XP
machine? Drives me crazy when I come in and discover some
idiot has been using mine!

I have a Java application that repaints a window contents
with a high rate. This causes menus and shadows to flicker
in Windows XP. The effect disappears after the monitor
refresh rate is changed (doesn't matter if it's changed to

I have no administrator on my computer. Someone has set
my account to guest and I cannot restore my computer to a

problems.  However, Security Center fails to spot my
Norton's Antivirus 2002.

Shared Documents trouble in XP SP231 Aug 2004 19:15 GMT2
After installing XP SP2, I am no longer able to access the Shared Documents
folder. I get an "Access Denied" message.
Has anyone else experienced this?  If so, how do you fix it?

Scan for Updates i receive the error code 0x80240030.
