Please help. I am trying to keep my kids off my computer when they shouldnt be. They have discovered that all they have to do is reboot and press F8 to bypass to safe mode. Is there a way to prevent this?

I am leaving on a trip and want to connect to my home machine from a friend's house. We both have WinXP Home. Can someone walk me through the steps to get connected from her computer to mine? I am home now so I can set my computer to co-operate before I leave.
