When I try to delete an old User account the windows freezes and then is shown as not responding. The account is still there afterwards. Is there another way to do this? Through the registry? How? HELP!!

At the installation of windows xp home you are asked to enter a password. I was having trouble with my windows program and tried to use the recovery console to repair but I could not enter without that password.
