Every morning, when I boot up, I get a message saying my computer isn't
protected and that I need to use the firewall.
And every morning I check the box that says I already HAVE a firewall that I
will monitor myself, and ask SP2 not to keep reminding me.

downloaded the sp2 update.XP professional however would freeze each time I
tried to install it.So it sits in the taskbar,saying "ready to install".How
can I get rid of THAT,means how can I delete that?Any help would be much
appreciated!

I installed Norton AntiVirus 2005 which recommended I
turn off Windows SP2 firewall...which I did (seems Norton
has their own built in...) The Windows Security window

I just installed the SP2 patch and I am not able to
connect to the internet now.  I have turned off the
Windows Firewall.  I can see packets being sent but it
doesn't appear that anything is coming back to the

With the Microsoft Firewall, I would like to set up an
Exception that would allow my network total PORTS open.
The only problem is... you can only do One PORT at a time.
I do not want to do this 65,000 + times. Is there a

In the Windows Security Center I click on the Change the
way Security Center alerts me, I uncheck the Firewall
check box. But everytime I reboot the PC the Firewall
setting is checked again. All the other settings work

Hi - My son has recently had to rebuild his sytem (XP to
XP Home) from the product recovery CD supplied by the
manufacturer.  Prior to the rebuild he had files on a

My computer has been switched off whilst I have been on
leave for three months. When I switched it on after my

I installed sp2 on several pc's in my office but when I
try to install on one of them, I get this error message:
Download Failed and the error code is 80246005.

The OU's are specific for computer location and the drives
map and work but they are displayed as "Disconnected
Network Drive" in stead of the share and server names.  
This was not an issue until script were used via GP per OU.

After installing SP2 on XP Pro I cannot get the group policy editor to
run.... Tried to run also by going to run and entering
"gpedit.msc" and I get an error msg stating that the "Snap-In failed to

Does anyone know how to "hide" (i.e., decline) the SP2
auto update?  I've already loaded it via disk but can't
seem to disable the auto update of this particular update
w/o disabling auto update altogether.  Thanks.

I had to reinstall my OS but I saved my docs folder but
am unable to open because of it being pasword protected.
I know the password but have no way of accessing a login
for the folder. Any help would be appreciated.

I would like to explore using the Windows XP Firewall while I have a vpn
connection established (using Cisco's VPN Client [v3.6/4.1]) to my place of
work.
While the Windows firewall is active I am able to establish the vpn
