Auto-Logoff and Screensaver Lock15 Mar 2005 20:20 GMT1
I have winexit.scr configured to logoff users on a shared PC after 8 hours.
But, I need the PC to also do a screensaver lock if the user walks away from
the PC for say, 10 minutes. So, when they come back to the PC they can unlock
it, and resume working.

SP2 Post Installation Horrors15 Mar 2005 18:19 GMT5
Hey all,
I've installed XPSP2 on a couple of PCs which fixed a slow login
(Netware/AD) problem I have had, but it has caused heaps of other issues:
1. Network connections disappearing (MS's fixes for this don't work).

Every time I do a Windows update, it tells me that I need
to install the security update for Windows XP service
Pack 1 (Q811114). I have downloaded and, so it tells me,
successfully installed this update about five times now.

Is there a way of doing this?

Run only allowed Windows applications15 Mar 2005 14:08 GMT3
I am an administrator on a fairly tightly controlled network.  We use the
"Run only allowed Windows applications" option in our Group Policies and then

2003 and added, among others, WINWORD.EXE to our list ...

I then logged onto the guest account this morning and belarc now shows that
Use XP Firewall with Router & Firewall?15 Mar 2005 11:49 GMT23
Is it recomended to turn on and use the XP Firewall on workstations
even if our network sits behind a router with it's own Firewall?  Will
this cause problems? Until the last XP service pack, I only used the
XP firewall when connecting from home or on the road. Now all
made it too secure?15 Mar 2005 11:12 GMT1
I run a network at a school.  We are upgrading from Windows 98 and 2000 to
XP.  On 2000, it was my practice to use MMC policy control to turn of
registry editing and MMC Author Mode access (along with a lot of other
stuff).  When I needed to get back in to MMC, I had a registry ...
Yahoo toolbar -- detect and remove15 Mar 2005 06:35 GMT4

course they've done evil things.
I'd like to detect and remove Yahoo's toolbar automatically. Has anyone had
any experience with this? Google's coming up uncharacteristically dry
