Windows XP SP2 Installing updates defective !!  

I have a laptop which recently crashed and i had to reinstall windows Xp
Home with SP1.
How ever when i installed it , it had created  a new user called Owner and
lost the other users which i can understand as it had reinstalled it all.

I've got a Windows XP Professional (SP2) domain workstation, and have
sole control of the administrator accounts on it. In performing certain
domain administrative functions I like to share out a hard drive for
others on the domain to write to.

My youngest son has recently been bought a PC on which he appears to have set
a Logon password for his user account.
He is the only user on the PC and therefore his is the only user account
that has been set up on the PC.

I am attempting to load Windows XP critical update KB888163 but the

I've found that I need to allow WMP10 to "Display Media Information From the
Internet" in order to have the songs of a CD (that I've purchased from a
local store) listed while I'm playing the CD.
