I manage a network of about 350 PCs; half of which are XP Pro using a
Corporate CD key, the rest are Win2k.  I got the following error on one of my

I have a program that I need to run on Public PCs, but it requires provs to
access the registry.  The machine is locked down and giving the public
account any types of privs isn't acceptable.
Doing a "run as" requires a password, so that's out unless therre is a way I

Service Pak 2 corrupts you ISP and Microsoft Explorer, and there is not way
to uninstall the SP2 once its installed in your system.  You can't delet the
file no matter how you try....Microsoft Must be laughing at there little
small cubicls...

We have a password policy which changes passwords every 40 days, so when the
user changed his password, he can no longer access his encrypted documents.
Unfortunatley there is no specified data recovery agent or password reset
disk.

I keep getting an alert to say windows firewall is not turned on and when i
attempt to do this either from control panel or security centre i get a
message to sya that windows is unale to activate firewall.

--I have a remote dialer that is continually downloading onto my pc. I've
been using adaware to remove it, but i can also unistall it from my control
panel.

I do have a few Windows XP SP1 and 2 machines where my updates failed. This
is the enviroment:
Windows 2003 AD, I also run SUS on a Windows 2003 server. When you visit
Microsoft.com OS updates the machine is checked and scanned. It will list

I recently  encryped a lot of files on my XP Pro machine.  I am in the same
user account, which has full admin privilages.  I was messing around in the
security areas and I believe I deleted my CERT made for my user, because I
cannot open of inencrypt any of the files I encryped ...

I am helping a friend who foolishly deleted several user accounts and does
not knwo his Admin password. He no longer has access to any log-ins. He
cannot remember which accounts he had or was using. Is there non destructive
way to recover or create his admin password??

I have a home network set up and have what seems like
everything connected and each of the 3 machines can see
one  another . BUT.. one machine has a password on it. I
cant  find or remember ever setting a password for this
