Okay this is confirmed to be SP2, (have uninstalled, then reinstlled):
When launching programs, XP seems to be adding some kind of variable to the
executable (for instance 'iexplore.exe /switch' anything after the exe is a
variable you send to the program.

Automatic Update is supposed to use BITS when downloading patches. When I
look on my XP Professional system the BITS service is set to "Manual".
Does Automatic Update start the service when needed or should I set it to

When I select Internet Explorer the pop-up blocker is off.  I turn it on and
begin surfing.  The next thing I know pop-ups begin appearing.  When I check
the blocker it is off once again. Anything I can do to prevent this?
