i have xp pro i have lost all my office apps all my work all my software
which was extremely valuable all my music over 3000 albums and songs and
therefore you can see why i am so effed off.xp pro looks like it sux .

When I awake my PC from hybernation I am informed that 1 Program is Running.
This is very worrying, and I am unable to find which Program is running in
the background.

My system was having a problem with Data Execution Prevention while on
vacation. It created an error message about once a minute for 6 days. I fixed
the problem, but I still need to clear several thousand error messages.
Please tell me that I don't have to do this manually!

Should I be disabling DCOM service for security? I scanned my ports and port
135 was left open. I have XP Service Pack 2 and asking if I need to disable
it. And if I do disable it what would happen?

I am attempting to add a new program to the XP Firewall settings, but I keep
getting an syntax error.  I know the problem lies in the file location, but I
cannot seem to find the problem.  Here is the Netsh command I am using:
netsh firewall add allowedprogram C:\Program ...

I need to lock down the hard drive so users don't have write access.
I applied permissions for the users group, and creator owner at the C:\
level and enabled it to propagate to all child objects.
The permissions were successfully pushed to all subfolders with one

Hi All, I am working at a library...I want the users to just be able to surf
the internet and save files to Floppy and MyDocuments....nothing more than
that...as a matter of fact shud have limited items on their desktop too!!!!

is it possible to allow users to access the computer during certin times
only. I want to block 2 users from accessing the computer from 11pm to 6am.
will it close all programs that they are running? is there a way to do this?

in terms of safely giving access to users of a PC.  is the guest account
safer than the limited account. (in terms of damage a user could do to files
or set up of PC).

I added an exception (for a .NET app I'm writing) to the SP2 firewall when it
popped up and asked me.
The problem is that when looking at my exceptioins tab in Windows Firewall - I
can see the exception, but it has no name, just a checkbox.

I've accidently dragged "My Music" into the "Shared Documents" on my
computer. When I tried to drag the folder back to"Bobs Documents" I get the
error message: "My Music is a Windows System Folder and is required for
windows to run properly. It cannot be moved or deleted"
