I have an NT network with XP Pro clients (soon to be a 2003 network).
My question is....  Is there a way to set an XP Pro PC to have the same
desktop, power scheme, etc., for all users that signon on to that pc
without using a group policy?  Or can it be done with some sort of

Need help removing the above mentioned virus.  When I try to delete, clean,
or quarantine I get a message that the file is "Write Protected".  I cannot
access this through dos either.  Please help...

I use a laptop which I configured so that my user account was a member of a
company network domain.  I'm no longer doing work for the company or on their
network.
I repointed my user account from the domain to the workgroup name of my home

I believe many users are being affected by this update.  If the workaround is
going to edit registry, will it be better that MS provides a special UI so
users don't need to change registry directly?

when i press ctrl, alt + del to open the task manager it comes up with an
error saying that task manager has been disabled by the administrator(me). if
i did disable it i dont know how i done it. any help would be great.

I'm trying to get a grip on permissions, but this isn't helping:
I've formatted a hard drive, called G: and removed all the default
permissions (WinXP/SP1). Applied. OK.
I then gave the Administrators FullControl and applied.

Windows Security Center (start/control panel/Window Security Center) I get
the following message under Security Essentials:
