I'm trying to reset my log-on password in Safe Mode (as per Microsoft instructions found online), but I'm unable to access the control panel as the Start Button doesn't seem to work. Is there some other way to get to the control panel? Or is this a symptom of a bigger problem?

I am trying to reinstall windows xp using the cd I have, but when i tried to it said it was impossible because it was outdated, 2002. When I looked at the disk it was someyear-2001. I recently online installed service pack 2. Is this why it can't install?

I have windows XP pro, with all the latest security updates and service packs. I have a 1200 mhz processor, 20gb HD with over half free, and 256 DDR RAM. have a 2mb broadband cable internet connection. Now, for quite a while now, my computer has started to have weird problems.

Okay, this is hard to explain but you know if your logged on windows (you can see your desktop) and you hold the Windows button on your keybord and "L" it will go to the user logon page? Well I forgot my password, is there anyway to get passed it? This is very frustrating.
