I'm trying to reset my log-on password in Safe Mode (as per Microsoft
instructions found online), but I'm unable to access the control panel as the
Start Button doesn't seem to work.  Is there some other way to get to the
control panel?  Or is this a symptom of a bigger problem?

I tried to log on to my computer after a few days' absence, and when I
attempted to log in, I got some message that said that my user profile could
not load because of a corrupted file or some Microsoft error.  Now I can't
access my saved word-processing documents, or anything ...

I am trying to reinstall windows xp using the cd I have, but when i tried to
it said it was impossible because it was outdated, 2002. When I looked at the
disk it was someyear-2001. I recently online installed service pack 2. Is

I have windows XP pro, with all the latest security updates and service
packs. I have a 1200 mhz processor, 20gb HD with over half free, and 256 DDR
RAM.  have a 2mb broadband cable internet connection.

Okay, this is hard to explain but you know if your logged on windows (you can
see your desktop) and you hold the Windows button on your keybord and "L" it
will go to the user logon page? Well I forgot my password, is there anyway to
get passed it? This is very frustrating.
