Checking my even viewer I find under system the following item: Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 000F664B0A52. The IP address being used is 169.254.225.144.

I have an XP machine that eveytime it is rebooted it will delete all files in MyDocuments, reset the home page, recreate a user account that was deleted. It was set up like this by a previous admin on purpose bc it is a public

In my Windows Security Center it says that my virus protection is off, although I did not turn it off. How can I turn it back on because I can't seem to find an on button or anything.

When I try and run MSBA on my XP machine it comes in with "The catalog file is damaged or an invalid catalog" error message. How can I fix this.

I'm trying to have my XP (SP2) machine try to synchronize passwords to a Redhat Linux 7.3 machine. I have the linux machine set up, but the windows machine doesn't even attempt to contact it. No records showing activity in the logs on either machine show up.

I am not sure if this is the correct group for this but I will try. An MFC application that my group has written was installed on an XP machine that has a software firewall. The firewall warned the user that the application was trying to access the internet.

Please help with a security question.... Recently, after an update to my Windows XP Home SE, every time I try to open a file (ie mp3, bat, etc) I get a "Open File - Security Waring". Is there a way to disable this stupid window?

I am running Windows XP and have MS Antispy also loaded. My PC is infected with trojan.intell32 and the MS Antispy pops up a window saying that trojan.intell32 is trying to install. I click the REMOVE button and MS Antispy says it has sucessfully removed the threat.
