Hypothetically, if I have an 'illegal' copy of XP Pro which fails Windows Genuine Advantage verification and then buy a legal copy, do I have to do a complete re-install or can I just type the 'kosher' number in somewhere?

I recently had a run-in with a spyware virus that took over the desktop, etc. and left this "oneclicksearches" search page. I finally have it all cleaned up but there is one lingering effect regarding the Display control panel that I can't figure out.

My Windows explorer (XP) pop-up blocker is enabled right now but as soon as a pop-up tries to get in, my pop-up blocker disables itself. I have already installed 3 additional pop-up blocker programs (spybot, spywareblaster, Ad-Aware SE) and still I continually get pop-ups. Help!
