Is there a way encrypt files in XP Home SP2 like in XP Professional? In XP
Home, when you right click on any file, click 'Properties', then the
'Advanced' button under the 'General' tab, the checkbox 'Encrypt contents to

I just reformated and i backed up to my hard drive. My files were encrypted
under my old accounts user certificate so i dont have access to them.
How do i erase the encryption?
P.S the cipher command doesn't work...

I have XP Firewall turned off by Group policy, yet it still pops up and  me
about blocking certain programs.  Mainly I see it on DPMS.EXE  right after
installing Novell.  I go to control panel and check the firewall and it says
it is turned off by GPO.......

I always log out and log in as admin to install or configure anything, but
I wonder if that's still necessary.  Does it lead to trouble if you use
switch-user to log in as admin, assuming you know a reboot won't be needed?

Please can someone help me. For some reason my pc is only running using a
guest account. I can't get administrator options at all, I am just about

About 6 months ago I found out my 2 WinXP computers had been hijacked.  After
working with wonderful help of Microsoft tech support I thought I was able to
correct the problems...but I was wrong!
I will start from the beginning:
