I'm using XP sp2.  i recently ran  Local Port Scanner (v1.2.2) and it showed
that i've got 7 open ports, some of which are vulnerable to several different
trojans, with Windows firewall turned on.  I'm connected via a router, so i
don't know if these ports are really even open or ...

Does anyone know why a Limited type User Account can't access a program like
Britannica 2002? However, when I change the same account to Computer
Administrator type, it does work.
Any suggestions or recomendations to fix it?

My PC got shut down by a power loss, and the next time I started it, after
disk check ran, a strange blue screen flashed suddenly with some text at the
top which I didn't have time to read, and rebooted ... after bootup, a blue
screen appeared and a window saying "log on to ...

Hiya,
 How do you disable an account in Windows XP Home Edition SP2.   I am also
having trouble with finding the password for the Owner account.  My account
has admin priv's, but in the Home Edition, it is not the same as in the XP

In WIndows NT there is a scheduler that allows the administrator to control
the times users can have access to their accounts. Is there such
functionality in XP Professional and if so how do I access it?

I press ctrl alt del, the windows security pops up, when I click on task
manager it wont open, just closes security window, I have tried ctrl alt
esc but will not open.

My XP firewall needs to be re-activated each time I re-boot my system??  
Anyone know what may be causing this and/or have a work around for it short
of un-installing sp2 and re-installing?

I joined a new domain on my HOME network and after rebooting the computer, I
cannot log on to Windows. It asks if I have the correct user name and domain
and asks me to type in the password. I am using my old username/password
from the old domain.

Can anyone tell me why I have started to get these pop-ups when I am online.
They come up in a grey box with black bold like a genuine Warning from
Windows. They then go on to tell you that there is so many errors on your

I have an unnamed folder on my hard drive. Right click only gives me the open
or explore option, and when i hit one it bounces me back to the desktop. I
cannot delete it, drag and drop it, it has defied all attempts at nuking it,
even in safe mode. Norton, Spybot, Adaware say ...
