Locking workstation - locks everything or just screen?02 Nov 2005 17:48 GMT2
I have an XP box with an ADSL connection. At the moment, despite having a
firewall, I log off the machine if I leave it for any length of time. My
reasoning for doing this is that if anyone from the internet does manage to
get onto my network, they won't be able to access the PC ...

I need to know how to report a hijacker taking my license code for Windows

using it was "on the computer only," or something like that.  I know that the
hijacker took the code, and I am afraid I won't be ...
System Restore and System Volume Information02 Nov 2005 17:35 GMT5
I have turned off System Restore on my slave HDD in an attempt to regain the
space on it reserved for System Volume Information, but find that this has
made virtually no difference to the free space available and there still

I have a situation where we have a small group of users that use a

Help on Shutdown User Rights Assigment02 Nov 2005 04:03 GMT2
Our system administrator recently transferred us from a workgroup to a

tweakui autologon causes xp pro to freeze02 Nov 2005 02:15 GMT2
My boss decided to be clever, and enabled the TweakUI autologon  feature for
his XP Pro laptop. Since that, however, the machine will not boot. When it
starts up, you get the usual windows loading animations, then a blank blue
screen (the default desktop background) with a mouse ...
Roaming Profiles & Their Local Security Permissions02 Nov 2005 01:40 GMT4
I have 50 XP Pro PCs on a domain and have granted local administrator rights
to all users placing the Domain Users group inside the local Administrators
group on each PC.  This works fine but the weak link is that there seems no
way to prevent users from looking inside the ...
