k what the (bad word) is goign on with my computer :S
I just set up my box with XP pro SP1 and I went to install my drivers
it all went fine till I had to restart I restarted then came back to my
desktop and it was liek the drivers didnt even install but it showed in

When I attempt to go to a secure website (one with https) my machine
answers that "The connection was refused when attempting to contact
www.sitename.com
My laptop can connect just fine, but this is a new problem that just

I have successfully mapped the LPT1 port to a network printer using the Net
Use command (persistent:yes) and it works great for me.  My users, however,
don't have local administrative rights and it doesn't work for them.  Is
there a way to map map that printer so that it's mapped ...

my security centre is not available but even if i go to "services msc", there
is no security centre folder or icon so I can't enable as suggested for other
problems

winxp sp2. Files and folders appear to be encrypting randomly with efs. I am
not applying the encryption myself. I am able to remove the encrpytion but it
is getting very inconvenient and chewing up a lot of cpu cycles. I have not
identified a pattern yet. Sometimes it happens ...

I've exercised a number of cleaners, concentrating mostly on Trend-Micro
tools.  But no matter what I do, I cannot seem to detect or correct this
behavior.

hi, i`ve read in a few places that if u restart in safe mode u can set
the security of cd drives, but on my xp sp2 mashine the security tab is
not showing ( this is only for the cd, for the ntfs disk partition its ok)

Yea my Automatic Updates have been turned off for a while now and i can
get them to turn back on. Even when i turn it to Automatic under Manag
Security Settings. When i try to download updates from the microsof
website i get the following error.

As more and more new PCs have no floppy drives, a few questions arise:
1.  What would be an alternative to the diskette for the password reset
disk?
2. If I need to have an external USB floppy drive, can I use a USB flash
