I bought a 2nd hand computer and when I turn it on it displays a screen that
apologises for windows xp not starting and gives me options to start (eg.
normal, safet mode etc.,) When I press enter on any of theses options it
comes up with a blue screen that says:

I am running windows XP Pro and can only log into an account if it is an
administrator account. As soon as I change the account to a User or Power
User, I can no longer log in. The account is still there, but the password

Shouldn't I of had this when I downloaded Windows XP  SP2? Why am I getting
failed when windows try to update this? When I go to download it, it says it
can't be found on my computer. Do I have to redownload WindowXP SP2 again? I

I have been reading much about the use of the hosts file to block out
potential bugs and ads.  Some say it's quite useful, others say it's
obsolete.  I need some expert opinions on using one as a security feature.

settings root so that all new user profiles are EFS encryped . Is this
feasible/reliable?
