I've just reintalled the OS on a machine and after joining it to the domain of my office, the options for Automatic Updates are greyed out. They are set to download and install all updates. Any idea how I can get back control of the updates?

I have a service that terminated abnormally, causing a TCP port to be blocked and not released, so I can't start the service again. If I do a 'netstat -ano' I see the PID of the blocking process to be 5108, but 5108 is no longer in the process table - tasklist doesn't show it, so ...

I reset my password last night, but somehow i misspelled the password in both fields. I was wondering if there was anyway i could get into my computer so i could delete the password and start over without having to bring my computer in for repair.

Is there a way of creating a new folder that is linked to an old one so that information saved in the old one is automatically linked to the new one? Also is there a way of doing this so that if information is deleted from the old folder it stays in the new folder?

I was having problems accessing the registry of windows xp from a remote machine on the same network. I am able to access the the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_USERS folders by making changes to the file HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurePipeServers\winreg.
