I'm changing my computer and was in the process of moving all my data from the old to the new view a firewire network. I couldn't get this to work today so ended up unplugging my old hard drive and plugging in into my new computer so i could copy the files across.

When setting-up my laptop to supply files from a share I (foolishly) set filesystem-permissions on the folder and contents as well as share permisisons. These permisisons limited access to system, Administrators and one specific user, which account is solely for network access.
