All of a sudden, within the last 3 days, ALL folders on my HD have gone into "read only" for all users - all users are Computer Administrators. I've read the "how to take ownership" - and am wondering if I should try this, and how would I accomplish it for all files?

An IT person at one of our offices is unable to edit the registry permissions of a Windows 2000 Professional machine. When he uses the menu Security...Permissions, the Permissions selection is grayed out. He is logged on as Administrator--at least, that's what he says.

I had a large virus infection recently(hopefully it's gone now). After MANY MANY scans with Norton, AVG, and Avast, restarts, etc, the viruses seem to be gone. Norton scan doesn't find any more viruses at this point. Windows defender didn't even see the viruses at all, microsoft ...

I'm trying to join a worksation into a domain but the Network ID tab is greyed out in My Computer> Properties> Computer Name. I tried changing the Local Security Policies to allow the change, but it was still greyed out, even after the change.
