Help needed please!
I noticed that my used space on my harddrive have increased from 13.4 gb to
49.1gb after noting that my spayware and antivirus scans were taking longer
than usual.

By mistake I reseted the permissions on my C:, D: drives now I am not
able to boot the pc.
I took that HDD and put it as secondry slave in another drive. when i
try to access those drives I get the error msg: "The File or Directory

How do I alow a common user to execute an application that needs directly
hardware access?

I'm trying to increase security on my servers and desktops but users need
admin privileges to run certains 3rd party applications. Is there anyway they
can run the apps while at the same time minimising their privileges?

I am running XP Home SP2 with all updates including .Net 1.1, 1.1 patch and
.Net 2.0.
It was running fine for years, and suddenly asked for a password at startup
for the (only) user account and for the guest account (which is turned off).

I have win xp home (not professional)
firewall is turned off and group policy is on.  I did not activate this and
