I have several folders under Documents and Settings in Windows XP Home
that no user account can access.  They are more or less locked from

Hi, i can use the internet and my laaptop fine(ish) as im on a limited user
account, The only reason i am using limited accounts is for security reasons.
Obviously when i need to install something i have to run it through the
admin account.

How do I execute a this to install all the patches?

It all started by i downloaded an intcodec from a website. Then,

don't really know what all those "events" mean and I've got lots of
"information", "warning", "error", "remote access", and "X" ones.  I've only
had this computer since early July.  Any ideas?

My brother is having difficulty installing Windows Defender onto his Windows
XP Professional (SP2) machine. He`s just installed Windows and it was one of
the first programs he installed after his anti-virus. Every time he tries to
install it, he`s getting the following message:

Do Power Users have the privleges to run windows updates and install the
updates?

I have downloaded a file which I would like to open and copy or work on. It
is in exe. How do I open it to work on? I can print it but it is 18 pages
long and would mean rewriting it all.

I just got a new notebook with a fingerprint reader.  Are fingerprint
readers really that secure? Can't they be easily by-passed?
I also have a BIOS password, but it does not come into play when the
notebook hibernates.  Then it only asks for the fingerprint.

Is there a "registry cleaner" ... or "registry tuner" program (out of the
many ...?) out there that can be recommended for me to use?
I would like a little more guidance as I study and clean my HKLM and HKCU
