Creating a folder name that ends in multiple period(s) using mkdir at the
command prompt will result in a directory that is not accessible.
Below is the behavior I have observed in Windows:
- Windows Explorer will not allow the following characters to be used in a

Every time I try to use Regedit, it says that Registry editing has been
disabled by my administrator. This is my computer and its not on any network
and I am using the Administrative account. I just dont know how to enabled
registry editing. I need some help.

I bought a laptop off someone, I'm assuming he setup the name when he cleared
data. I was able to personalize teh admin. name, but the name that refers to
cookie files, etc is bothing me.
At my log in page it reads:

Filenet application requires a flag to be unset (value 0) on the ADODB.stream
activex object.  However the critical security patch 918899 resets this value
to 1024.  
If the value is set back to 0 the patch tries to reinstall from WSUS, if it

Does Windows XP have built in support for something called 'hardware
authentication'? I have been asked to research technology that ensures that
that only specified hardware (I assume based on hardware hashes) interacts
with the back end server.

I know how to change the administrators name, but I can't for the life of me
change the user name. It's the name that pops up when my laptop returns from
sleep mode, etc... I was able to change the admin... It appeards like this on
my log in page:
