Every time I start my PC, Windows firewall reports that my previous
anti-virus software has not been found and the 'shield' icon remains red
until the current anti-virus software is finally loaded and running.

MMC cannot open the file c:\windows\system32\devmgmt.msc
      This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console,
or was created by a later versionof MMC. This may also be becasuse you do not
have suffcient access rights to the file.

i have  burnt a .doc file in a CD-R in 2003 that PC was on XP and HDD was

At our office we have the firewalls turned off on the individual pc's - (we
have a corporate firewall).  When I pushed the Ms Updates last night - I
found that even though we had the firewall turned off - after the push - it

I have a Windows XP Pro SP2 PC connected to a domain that seems to be
losing rights to a share after extended periods of time.  I t only
happens to one share.  The public folder is still visible.  As a matter

My PC died and so I removed disk drive and set it up as external drive to my
laptop. When I tried to access data "access denied" dialog appears. I know I
had a windows user password installed, could this be the problem? If so how
can I overcome this issue?

I have an application that reads the volume serial number as a mean of
copy protection.  All of my users are set with the group User.  The
program fails to do the test and I cannot use the software.  I've tried

I just bought a new 15GB External hardrive. It says that no Driver is
needed for it to work on my windows XP. When i plug the device in, a

Hi,              (WinXP Prof, NTFS)
I have a directory C:\A\B. When I look at the access rights of the folder in
the Explorer, I see that one ACE says that it is inherited from C:\A. But if
I look at the ACL of C:\A, there is no such entry. How comes?
