Got a quiet hotel room for a change, and noticed that the laptop was hitting its disk a lot. Did the usual, and discovered that the offending process was lsass.exe, with 3-4 reads and writes per second. After 48 hours of uptime, it was >1 million.

I have an XP client, IE 6, we use a proxy server for internet access. The client's pc keeps popping up the proxy authentcation screen without him doing anything. If he enters his credentials, nothing seems to happen (IE doesn't open). Any idea of how to figure out what is ...

I had 2 different desktops; a Sony Vaio and a Dell Dimension 2350. Both had Windows XP Professional on them. To cut the long story short, the motherboard for my Dell died on me and instead of buying another one, decided to just move the harddisk into the Sony Vaio.
