I am using XP Pro I recently had to reformat my hard drive. In preparation I did a backup of selected files and folders using Nero 8. After reinstalling Xp, I did a restore with Nero.

I have just bought 2nd hand notebook of HP Compaq Presario with original Windows XP Home Edition ver 2002(OEM) preinstalled registered to HP. Regedit is disabled, Folder option is not in the Control Pannel and some other comtrol pannel function are disabled.

I use WinXP Pro SP3 on a 3 year old Dell Laptop Once I tried to password protect one folder. But it ended up password protecting the complete bootup sequence. I removed the password, but now when booting up I get the password screen.

I am setting up a computer which needs a login prompt on boot for security purposes, but needs to keep running all day with minimal power requirements when not in use. Other computers on the network need this computer to be always on, as the printers are connected to it.
