I realize that MS does not suggest using XP Home in a
corporate environment but, does that mean there is no way
to setup said computer on my LAN?
Any advice woul be appreciated...

My computer was built by a friend of a friend with Windows

the setup process I skipped the part of definning Users.

I just did a clean upgrade to Win XP on my son's computer
that was running Win98.  Athalon 388 with 40GB hard drive
and 128 mb RAM.  There is no other peripherals hooked up

Short as possible...Supposed failed hard drive shen eror

I've restarted the upgrade 4 times.  BIOS has been
updated, and imcompatbile software has been uninstalled
prior to upgrade.  The last phase of the upgrade,
finishing installation it hangs with 24 minutes

I have 2 hard disks, 1 installed with Win XP, 2nd
installed with win98.  Both are connected to the 1st IDE
controller.  
and i have arc path in boot.ini file as follows,
