I really really need to install my COX cable internet..
but my laptop works fine with all cds but this cox. cox cd
is for windows xp and it loads the logo fine. but after
that, just a empty box!! GRR. my another computer loaded

hi,
before installing my windows i formated my HD to get rid
off my files, i did it through DOS by typeing in "format
c: /s"  but after i completed the installation i went to

Does anyone know if the procedure described in MSKB article Q314070 (which
is no longer in the KB) for moving a WinXP install to different hardware
with the same HAL still works?

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SAVE DOWNLOADED UPDATES TO DISK,SO THAT
IF WINDOWS HAS TO BE REINSTALLED ,IE NEW HARD DISK?,YOU
COULD REINSTALL ALL UPDATES WITHOUT RE DOWNLOADING? ANY

I have just moved from Win98se, which I had the PWS
installed on it so that I could test my site without
having to upload it. I want to do the same with Windows XP
Pro but I'm having a problem. After a while it stops

long story short, win98 was "inoperable" on my computer so
I opted to install xp over it.  ended up having to format
the harddrive from win98 emer boot disc and try again to
install xp from the upgrade disc (which microsoft says you

I tried to clean install XP on a Viao PCG-FXA36 and part
way into the install it quit finding a bunch of dll's.

We use a Windows Workgroup to share files, etc.  Most PC's
are WinXP.  However, we have some Win2k machines also.  
The WinXP machines can't see the Win2k machines in the
Workgroup.

Anyone run into this.  During install (loading setup
files) I recieve an error that ochi1394.sys is corrupted
and the only option that appears is to press any key to
restart windows and canel setup.  This is from my XP pro
