When trying to reinstall Win XP Pro, the setup froze.  
After reboot the PC is now in a loop.  Unable to access
Win XP Pro because setup was not successful, and unable to
restart the reinstall because an error that is too quick

When my machine boots it shows two versions of Microsoft
Windows XP Pro.  Any ideas if I should remove one of these
and how?  This probably happened months ago when Microsoft
helped me upgrade this machine.  Any help or direction is

Does Xp still use the config.sys file when booting?
I've just upgraded two computers to XP from win2000 and
now our accounting program doesn't run on them. I get a
message "Too many files open simultaneously error 014".

I have recently upgraded my notebook from XP Home to XP
Professional edition. After the upgrade my system has
started giving problems.
Whenever I turn on the m/c, it hangs me up with no

I have noticed that the dllcache directory on my laptop
has changed. It now contains 1400 dll's in blue rather
than back. They seem to all have the same date (20/08) Is

I have installed XP Home ed. on a brand new harddisk but
can't boot from HD only from CD-ROM. Bios 1st Boot device
HDD-0, 2nd Boot d. Floppy. 3rd Boot d. CDROM. and
removing XP-CDROM results in:

Win xp advises me that there are updates waiting to be
installed but the auto update windows freezes and won't
progress.  When I download the updates from the windows
update site the updates download but wont install.
