I bought a new barebones computer system and tried to
install Windows 2000 to no avail.  I kept getting errors
that it couldnt' copy some files (never the same files)
during several installation attempts.  I though I might
problem using winnt.exe to install recovery console? (rather than winnt32.exe)18 Aug 2003 23:31 GMT1
I wanted to install the recovery console from the win xp
pro cd, and accidentally used the command d:\i386
\winnt.exe /cmdcons, rather than the winnt32.exe file...
A DOS window popped up, the hdd was working for a moment.

I need to update a fairly new installation that has only a 56k dial up
connection. Is it possible to copy files from an existing, up to date XP
installation rather than having to download from Windows Update. Are any of
the files left cached in some location? I notice some updates ...
