Machine very slow after SP1 upgrade.14 Aug 2003 06:27 GMT2
I installed the SP1 patch (Windows XP Home) and the
machine is
very very slow. Even reboot takes a long time.
What can I do to identify and fix the problem?

I get through a portion of the SP1 install and then am hit
with a message saying "access is Denied" while it is
backing up registry keys. If we choose ignore a few times,
and continue with the install, we get another message at

System hangs during conversion. Anyone know how to abort
convert command and leave @ FAT32?  Too much trouble at
this point.

When I was having problems yesterday with my windows xp (
programs terminating because of rpc problems and also lost
the start button) I decided to reinstall windows and see

My desktop was hit by the worm and I tried to re-install
the XP Pro, but it stopped after the HD partitioning.
Looks like it cann't go to formatting step. Any ideas?

I have had my DELL PC with Windows XP for two weeks.  Over
the weekend, it started going to the blue screen with
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.  
I was able to start in safe mode only.

I've just re-installed microsoft office because the
factory ommitted the pictures for clip-art.  I'm trying
to re-register and I cannot seem to find the PIN (product
identification number) which the help scree says is in
