XP Pro Install Fails - Blocked due to MSQLServer 7.005 Aug 2003 21:58 GMT1
I have been trying to install XP Pro and each time it
tells me it's blocked due to an installation of Sqlserver
7.0. The problem is that this machine doesn't have
SqlServer 7.0 on it and never has. I have deinstalled all

I reformat my comuter on a regular basis for various
reasons.  I currently have a windows 98 full version, and
I am wondering, if I buy the windows xp upgrade version,
every time I format do I have to first install Windows 98

I formatted the Hard drive on my laptop, getting rid of
the corrupt Windows XP (home). I re-installed XP (home)
from the Install disk, all goes well. Re-Boot the system

I have been trying for several attempts to get this to
have XP install and it hangs mostly at the point mentioned
in subject.  I am using ECS MB L4VXA2, MSI G4TI4200-VTD8X
video card, Segate 80G HD, 512 stick of DDR3200 RAM.

On the surface, it's sounds simple.  Move one file from

at "installing devices".  The MB is a Soyo Dragon Ultra
Plat. KT-333, and an AMD Athlon XP 2100 (Thoroughbred).
