For a few months I have this entry showing in the Add or Remove Programs list in my XP Professional computer. I think it was not there when I installed XP about 18 months ago. I am not a software developer. I use the computer for text, spreadsheets, images, music.

i cannot get past the start-up page (i think that is what it is called). i tried to get into safe mode, but cannot. nor can i get into any other mode. it is asking me to reinstall hal.dll.
