I have windows XP home on my laptop and want to put it on
my desktop. Someone told me I could install one copy of
windows on a desktop and a laptop. Is this true?

I've never seen this before, but I just did a reinstall
of XP (my OS did a major crash), and now, when I go to
Shut Down, the Standby/Hibernate option is no longer
available to me. I see it there, but it's grayed out. I

I have been trying to install XP Home on my older desktop
for some time;
Finally I totally re-formated the HD's and started clean.
It doesn't have many periferals - all the printers, etc.

HI, I am running windows XP pro.
When i start up, an error message appears:
"Windows could not start because the following files are
missing or corrupt:

Upgrading from Windows98 to XP, Everything in the
installation process seems normal and fine until I get to

I had purchased XP Home upgrade.
I installed it on one of my machines.
I needed XP Pro on that machine and purchased and
installed a full version over the old version.  I would

When I run a virus scan on my system, it takes forever
for the program (Norton 2004) to scan these files (there
are about 36 of them in my Windows folder--set as hidden
files).  I believe they were created when I updated
