Here's a problem I've been unsuccessfully trying to solve for Arlene.
Because her kids use her PC she password protected her account on her XP
system before she went on vacation. When she got back the PC won't boot.
Kids say, "Yeah, it just stopped working."  So I wind up with it, ...

I am not very good with computer-speak, but I will try to

Instead of using the start menu, I have always used my
desktop to run applications using shortcuts to websites,

setup told me it needed at least 990MB.
Now I have a 1GB usb key: the setup tells me it needs at

I changed from a AMD Ahtlon 200 FSB motherboard to a AMD
XP Athlong 333 FSB processor and motherboard.  I thought
I could jusr reinstall windows to correct the hardware
changes but it will only let me re-install it from new.

I have installed Windows XP.
Now my screen is much smaller, leaving a good inch margin
around all four sides of the monitor - as if monitors
weren't small enough already.

my system has become increasingly unstable.
I have multiple issues, but the most pressing seems to be
the "Invalid boot.ini file. Booting from windows"
The boot file is empty and I am much too computer
