You will not get that one to boot. It's a copy right? I know that you can create bootable cd's through roxio and nero. I just have not been able to create one nor do I know if it is possible to make a bootable os cd. I tried

I want to install Windows XP on a USB hdd and than boot from it. Is it possible? I tried installing directly on the drive from a XP CD , but I got a blue screen after the first boot.

Novice here. I just purchased a machine from Gateway with XP Home Edition already loaded. I want to partition the hard drive into C: & D:. Since the disk has no unallocated space it appears I cannot add a D: drive.
