I posted a message on this topic August 24, but got no
replies so far. I failed to note that this problem halts
installation of XP. I'm stuck until we get it resolved.
I cannot find any reference to this error on the KB. I

During the boot of windows xp home edition if I move the
mouse pointer the system with do a total lock up.  The
only way to fix it is to press the machine reset button.  
On rare occasions it will stay locked up after the re-boot
