to XP Pro.  My question is, is it better to back up all
data, wipe the hard drive, and do a clean install with

My hard drive experienced sector issues that NTFS could not resolve so some of the XP files were bad. I reinstalled Service pack one hoping to refresh them but that did not fix all.

I have Win XP Pro installed on my computer. I would like

from my Win 98 CD and format the drive. Then I continue

After XP copies the files required to install, it reboots
then starts the installation process again. It doesn't
boot from the drive it was installed upon, it just keeps
