I bought an 80GB hard disk. I followed the installation
summary as prescribed by SEAGATE. I now started
installing Windows XP Pro. Initially, there was a long
pause after inspecting configuration before set up began.

I have a machine with XP SP1.  I was removing virii and
spyware, etc.  When I rebooted the machine it made it to
the welcome screen just fine.  Two accounts are on the
machine, if I select either account it says, very

Perhaps my impatience caused me to end up with 2 Windows XP Home Edition OS when I boot up. My question: Can I re-do this right, without then ending up with 3?

I just reformatted my computer and installed windows xp
home edition. When I try to re\activate it it says it has
exceeded the amount of times it can be used, which
renders me unable to activate windows. In the f.a.q. its

I shut down my computer running xp pro and now I can't get
pass the logo and sorry for my inconvience screen.
Made the 6 boot disks and installed but the it asks for

Well I completed my build and configured my RAID 1
(Mirroring) drives, Made a disk to help XP figure out the
RAID setup and started my install.
Remember this is a NEW system.

I've been trying to upgrade an HP Pavilion 8655C to Windows XP from 98 (SE, I think). I get the following error message at the beginning of the "Analyzing Your Computer" step:

I recently formatted and reloaded Windows XP Prof and now
it asks me for the cd key ... it says it does not
recognize the cd key or when I call for the product ID it
says it does not recognize this. what do I do to activate.

I am going to install WinXP on 3 new PCs, is it possible for me to download
all windows/security updates on a network drive and install them rather than
doing all of them online?

I have Win98se on "C" drive and WinXP Home on "D" drive in a dual boot
configuration using the WinXP boot loader. I no longer need Win98. I
would like to install WinXP on "C" drive, migrate applications and
data from "D" drive and then delete WinXP from "D" drive.

i want to hide things like the Qupdates and patches from my other users so they can't uninstall them. is there a registry value i can add to each of the things i want to hide in HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\

there a setting that will allow the new machines to start
up in Classic Mode. Or do I need to do it manually after

I recently installed a 160GB hard drive in the secondary spot on the primary IDE channel. the BIOS and the device manager recognize the hard drive; my original one is c: and my CD drive is e: all of the jumpers on the actual drives are correct- i don't know what else to try. can ...
