Something very strange has happened. I did a power off

I'm trying to do a "clean" installation of Windows XP Home to a laptop
computer that doesn't have a CD-ROM drive.

I'm operating under XP Pro w/SP2. When I first installed XP eons ago, I
installed it over Win 2000. Every time I rebooted I'd be asked to choose
between 2000 and XP. I posted a query here on how to eliminate that question,

i am installing windows xp pro edition on my dell latitude
cpxj system.
i ran the upgrade advisor on my system before doing so,
