Since I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere by MS on their site or here (new here, so may have missed it), I thought I'd let you know that SP2 will not install on some ASUS motherboards due to a BIOS conflict. The computer will freeze at the Windows XP screen as it boots up.

My winxp sp2 stanby option was disabled (Stanby buttom dim) when i install the system using self-customized unattended cd. Tried with normal installation cd no problem. Anybody have any idea how to fix this.

When right-click on My Computer and select Properties, there is a logo of the manufacturer (like Dell or eMachines, etc.) on the General tab. Can any company (ie. end-users) put their logos there ? Or, do companies need to enter some agreements with Microsoft first ?

I want to upgrade from XP Home w/SP2 to XP Professional. The copy of the XP Professional upgrade I have does NOT have SP2 and probably doesn't have SP1. My intent is to reinstall the SPs after upgrading to XP Professional.

I have a Dell Dimension 4400 which I am running into problems with after trying to Re-Install Windows XP. They entire system was slowing down, We don't have much on there that couldn't be backed up to a CD, So I decided to clear everything off and start with a Fresh Install.
