My employer uses XP Professional SP2 and we had a problem the other day with

I tried to re-install XP but booting from the Setup Boot Disks (SP2) that I

i am trying to clear up a friend's system.  you know the drill, clear out
the viruses, get all 25 + updates, scan disk and defrag.  they are running
windows me but when it starts up it tries to continue an xp home install.  
how can i get rid of that?  when the system first boots ...

Programs applet.  Is there any other way to remove the program completely?
