I have re-instaled XP onto a new hard drive. Installation seems OK, no error
messages. When XP finishes install and reboots, startup stops at the
microsoft logo screen. I am able to boot up into safe mode and system seems
to work.

The CD-ROM drive closed on my CD when I was placing it into the shelf.
Result: physical damage to the CD making it impossible to load data to a

I'm a network administrator/system programmer for our engineering computing
group.  For years now I've been performing unattended NT/2k/XP installs using
